Refugee Reception House
Our Reception House is often the first safe space refugee claimants experience upon arriving in Canada.
We provide safe, fully furnished temporary housing and a warm, welcoming environment where individuals and families can recover from their journey, feel respected, and begin building hope for the future.

Core supports include:
-
Safe temporary housing in clean, fully furnished living spaces
-
Immediate basic needs: meals, food staples, clothing, personal‑care items, and essential supplies
-
Orientation and guidance: introductions to the community, local services, and Canadian systems
-
Emotional, spiritual, and practical support from staff and volunteers who listen, encourage, and walk alongside each guest
-
Connection to legal and social supports: assistance navigating the refugee claim process, accessing healthcare, and connecting with trusted partners
For residents with higher or more complex needs, Matthew House may provide extended stays, increased check‑ins, and enhanced support to promote stabilization, safety, and well‑being.
